Grow With Music was established in 1999 by qualified Suzuki teacher, Emma O’Keefe, as the first Suzuki Early Childhood Education programme in Western Australia. Classes, for 0-3 year olds and their parents, are held in East Fremantle, W.A..

In 2009, Grow WIth Music is now one of seven Suzuki Early Childhood programmes being offered in W.A. All our ECE teachers work and train closely together.

The Suzuki Early Childhood programme lays the foundation for future Suzuki instrumental lessons, and provides opportunities for social, emotional, physical and intellectual development.

Children learn to concentrate, share, take turns and listen well which gives them a good start once formal education begins. As such, it is an invaluable early learning experience for all children.

Classes are held once weekly, in groups. Two teachers lead a well-paced series of traditional songs and rhymes, which are used as stimulus for movement, singing and percussion playing.

The curriculum has been inspired by Canadian Suzuki Specialist, Dorothy Jones, and her daughter, Sharon Jones. It is founded on the principles of Suzuki Music Education, which have been observed and put into practice by many teachers worldwide for over half a century!

Dr. Shinichi Suzuki said “Every child grows; everything depends on how he is raised. Every child is born with outstanding potential."

Quotes to remember

"If a child hears good music and learns to play it himself he develops sensitivity, discipline and endurance." (Suzuki Education in Action, Clifford Cook, 1970)

“From birth, a baby’s brain cells multiply a great deal making connections that may shape a lifetime of experience. The first three years are critical.” (Tomorrow’s Children, Margaret Sasse).
